What and Why ?

Physicians and patients can share information in real-time from one computer screen to another. And they can even see and capture readings from medical devices at a faraway location. Using telemedicine software, patients can see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment without having to wait for an appointment. Patients can consult a physician in the comfort of their homes.

And due to this pandemic COVID-19, this was the need of the hour.

Role and Team

  • Timeline and duration: March 2020 - May 2020 (3 months)

  • Deliverables: As a UX designer I was working with two product managers parallelly for multiple sides of the product. I was involved in comprehensive user research, data analytics, expert interviews, competitor analysis, and prototyping.

  • I have built an application to provide an efficient ecosystem for doctors and patients to connect over.

Context

Using telemedicine software, patients can see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment without having to wait for an appointment. Patients can consult a physician in the comfort of their homes.

Today, patients, providers, and payers alike can benefit from the emergence of telemedicine. Because of telemedicine, patients who previously had limited access to health care services can now see a physician without leaving their homes. Seniors who would prefer to age in place can now do so with the use of medical streaming devices. The spread of disease is reduced as individuals with contagious diseases don’t have to expose it to others in crowded waiting rooms.

Initially, this teleconsultation app was in our thoughts only but when COVID-19 came it actually boosted that idea and we all started working for it. From researching to developing the flows and the actual application.

Challenge

"Behavior change of the patient and the doctor."

The biggest problem, in this case, was the elimination of face to face interactions between both the users. There is always a perception in the patient's head that if the doctor sees him physically then only they will be all right. The solution was challenging. So we have to create an environment on the platform itself to satisfy the patient and the doctor at the same time.

We did brainstorming sessions and created a bucket list of words. Built connections between the shareholders to give a perfect system.

Personas

I created personas, which would help in identifying the pain point and opportunities through task analysis, empathy mapping, and scenarios. it was evident that these ideas were definitely addressing the problem statement to a certain extent, but still, there is a possibility to inch closer.

Which then further was catered while building the information architecture.

Personalizing Healthcare

The future of healthcare lies in working hand-in-hand with technology and healthcare workers have to embrace emerging healthcare technologies in order to stay relevant in the coming years.

Digital technology could help transform unsustainable healthcare systems into sustainable ones, equalize the relationship between medical professionals and patients, provide cheaper, faster, and more effective solutions for diseases.

The ability to monitor one’s health at home and share the results remotely with their physician, these systems empower people to take control of their health and make more informed decisions.

Wireframes

The wireframing aspect played a significant role in this project. That is the top layer of the system, which solved our problems and ultimately translated into whether the product will fulfill its task.
